Some Things About May
Hi y’all, my name is Mayberry – but they call me May for short. We think the nickname May is just darling, so we are sticking to it. I’m a 5-year-old, 60-lb hound mix, who has an irresistible smile. I’m as pretty and well-mannered as a debutante. And I love being around people and will be a great fit for a home that has children. I’m described as having the perfect energy level. With an equal admiration of playing and snuggling, I make sure that my day is balanced with them both.
So I’m Rescue Haven’s exclusive Southern gal! I was rescued from a high-kill shelter in rural Georgia, where I was a volunteer favorite. I’m small town girl who was found as a stray, roaming those old country roads by my lonesome. When the shelter became full and my future was uncertain, RHF gave me the gift of a new life — bless their heart! It seems like I had a family of my own in my past, as I was spayed when I ended up at the shelter, but we’re not sure what happened. Great thing is, this made it very easy for me to adjust to my new RHF foster family, and I’ve been winning everyone over in the Northeast with my Southern Hospitality ever since.
Here’s What My Foster Family Says About Me
I’ve truly bonded with my foster family. Adoringly, they say that sometimes I like to invade their personal space — in a precious way, of course, which they truly enjoy. I LOVE all people! And I am AMAZING with children! When the kids are playing, running around and making noise (like kids do), it doesn’t bother me one bit – I just stay calm and simply CHERISH them. I walk nicely on a leash but can get a bit excited when I see another doggie. I do currently live with two dogs in my foster home, and I enjoy their companionship. In my forever home though, I’d prefer to be the only canine in the house (this way, you’ll only have one space invader (lick-lick). Having a fenced-in yard for fun and frolic would be just my icing on the cake.
When I get super enthusiastic, I use all the will-power I have to keep all four of my paws on the ground, and I act like a perfect lady. And when I receive a compliment, I beam with a respectable pride! My foster mom thinks this Southern Charmer may have even taken ballet lessons while living down south because whenever she brings me my meals, I do these adorable 360-degree spins with incredible finesse (woof-woof).
